After years of quarrels, throwbacks and delays, Athen‘s ancient treasures have found a new imposing home. The inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed acropolis museum takes place at this weekend, and raises again hope to finally complete the fulfillment of a 27 years ongoing dream about the assembly of Greek’s most important lost cultural relic, the Parthenon frieze. Drafted and planned by the Swiss famous architect Bernhard Tschumi, the new museum creates a decisive contemporary visual firework of glass and steel forging a sharp edged monumental edifice at the foot of the Acropolis with a broad view at that awe-inspiring cultural site. Notably, this exhibition hall of superlatives extends over three levels comprising 25.000 square meters opened for over 4.000 precious exhibits, and a breathtaking translucent plastic glass floor at the ground floor that offers a giddiness-creating view to the 8meters far foundation.
